I stumbled upon a blog post/YouTube video the other day that really opened my mind to actually think about how I articulate my speech and my writing. I will begin this post by sharing the video:
At this time, I’d like to reiterate the challenge of the the poet, Taylor Mali. Let us all speak with conviction. Let us all believe in what we are saying and may we all say it with intelligence, education and grace.
I give this challenge to all of you:
Every time you catch yourself saying “like” or “totally,” write it down. See how many times you say them in a day. Every time you catch yourself saying “you know,” “whatever” or ending your sentence with “so…,” write it down. See if you come across as intelligent as you think you do.
I know I don’t, you know?
